Guntrip, from the Medway area of Kent, England, is
a composer and leader of the Ray Guntrip Band. Ray Guntrip has had his foundations
and roots in the jazz genre and has performed in varying jazz styles from Latin
jazz, through contemporary jazz, jazz / blues, progressive jazz, soul jazz, etc
on an international basis. Ray Guntrip's compositions have a harmonic and melodic
twist that gives them an unmistakable signature and added dimension to the widely
contrasting moods of jazz.
2008 an inspired recommendation from within the hierarchy of the music industry
brought Ray Guntrip together with Shanelle, a female vocalist from Sussex, England,
with a reputation as a world-class singer, performer and songwriter. Shanelle
was so impressed with the strength of Ray Guntrip's original compositions, which
gave her the unexplored potential of adding lyrics to some of Ray Guntrip's tunes,
all of which appear on this 10-track big band Latin jazz, tropicalia After Dark
The After Dark big band Latin jazz release
marks this out as an exciting collection of original tracks, and together these
recordings and performances along with Ray Guntrip's collaboration with Shanelle
establish them as continued genuine voices on the jazz scene.
