Malaya
An
exotic beauty, of Mauritian descent; Malaya has been a singer songwriter for most
of her life. The music that she produces reflects her experiences and journey.
Passionate, articulate and sensual, her voice delivers the emotion of the lyrics
with accuracy. Interestingly she hasn't committed to one sound. Offering a mixture
of R&B, Blues and Jazz, her vocals are comfortable soothing and precise.
Her musical background saw her singing in the church as a child then, after a
short break, she met producer Graham Pettican. The collaboration of the two saw
Malaya 's work take on a new focus and angle. Her sound became more soulful and
round; she began to experiment with her voice and started work on her first compilation
of songs. This resulted in the exceptional first album: Malaya ' Unearthed. Currently
working on her second album, Malaya goes from strength to strength. With her music
incorporating more jazz. She has also written and worked woth top end Djs in the
Dance, house and hardcore genre with release on various labels.
